Cat-tharsis*

This diorama was sculpted to reveal the obsession that artisans often feel about polymer clay.

The old woman loves to work with polymer clay.  Just as some old women have 65 cats and cannot pass up a stray; she is preoccupied with the clay and sculpts more and more cats while experimenting with different techniques.

She has a golden retriever who is feeling abandoned due to a lack of attention brought on by her new obsession.

The old woman often monitors a polymer clay newsgroup on the Internet and is known by the name Catwoman.  Since the newsgroup members have given the old woman so much support and have encouraged her in the development of her art, the golden retriever has decided to write the newsgroup and ask for help. The golden retriever wants to be queen of her home once more.

The diorama was sculpted from Cernit, Fimo, Kato and Premo polymer clays, including the old woman's clothes.  24" x 24" x 24"

*Catharsis - a purging of the emotions esp. through a work of art.

This diorama will still be a work in progress as long as it is in my home. It contains over 100 cats or cat heads and I have many more planned.
